Flemings Mayfair

Flemings Hotel, Suites & Apartments is situated in one of London’s most exclusive neighbourhoods, Mayfair. The boutique London hotel is just a few steps away from Green Park, Piccadilly and the fascinating boutiques and restaurants of Shepherd Market and Bond Street  

Rumana Swinton was commissioned by Flemings Hotel Mayfair to undertake the design of their guest ‘Drawing Room’. Transforming the tired space into an elegant and plush interior.  The scheme drawing on the buildings illustrious past and in particular its connection with the Great Exhibition of 1851. Creating a décor which echoes a classic aesthetic

Rumana reinstated architectural features to ensure the space had a strong sense of history.  Installing wall panelling she was able to recreate a classic Georgian Drawing Room feel.  An illuminated coffered ceiling has been introduced to create an optical illusion . Whilst the herringbone parquet flooring lends a traditional touch.

An original period marble fire place was to become the focal point with reflective mirror details add elements of light. Hand painted fresco depicting ‘Early Views of India’ were set into wall panels, reflecting the British Empires connection with the Indian sub-continent.  
Hand crafted furniture features contemporary palette of vibrant luxurious fabrics, which are complimented by an array of antiques and objet which fill the room, allowing guests to discover different elements of the interior each time they visit.
