The Boatyard

The Boatyard is located on the West Coast of the Isle of Man in the heart of Peel, a thriving fishing port with an extensive modern marina. The restaurant sits at the heart of the Marina with the magnificent ruins of Peel Castle acting as a dramatic backdrop to its unique Harbour Setting. 

Upon its opening The Boathouse quickly established itself as the Islands Premier Fish Restaurant winning rave reviews and a loyal clientele.

Having worked with the client on a preview Restaurant Project Rumana Swinton Design was commissioned to create a distinctive fish restaurant with a vibrant playful interior. The Studio’s approach was to create an individual concept inspired by the buildings proximity to the harbour side.

Working with local craftsmen Rumana designed an imaginative and eclectic interior, using reclaimed timber boards to clad the internal walls and creating an opening to enable clients to view the ‘theatre’ of food being produced. Handmade screen print fabrics featuring local fish, lobsters & sea birds adorn the furniture and a bar was created using pebble tiles and reclaimed wood top.
