The Courthouse

The Courthouse Bar & Restaurant re-launched after undergoing a complete renovation, transforming it into a truly venerable institution. It’s a hub for creative and entrepreneurial customers who come together to meet, drink and dine and participate in the varied events, and the Club has reclaimed its place at the heart of contemporary cultural life in the Isle of Man.

Rumana Swinton Design was tasked with the Design and Project Management of the interior refurbishment. The brief was to inject some glamour back into the interior and create a truly eye-catching space which reflected a more current contemporary market. Natural materials were used to create a simple modern aesthetic and wooden uprights were introduced to alter the internal layout and formed a more elusive atmosphere.

Commissioned steel lighting forged from commercial pipe work frames the central bar, and beautiful hand-crafted furniture injects a splash of colour. The walls feature wooden panels and monochrome prints which combine with feature lighting to create an uncontrived, contemporary space. The result is a fresh playful interior which is grounded through the natural elements of the materials used.
